​About Us​

Winnipeg SOS was founded in July 2013. We are one of the first non-profit, anonymous, secular addiction support groups in Winnipeg. We provide an alternative to religious or 12-step based philosophies. We take a self empowerment approach to recovery.
In SOS we take personal responsibility for our own sobriety and make abstinence our priority. We promote healthy skepticism and encourage critical and rational thinking. We provide a community of like minded individuals who come together to provide mutual support and hope.
We respect recovery in any form regardless of the path by which it is achieved.
The original Secular Organizations for Sobriety was founded in California in 1985 by James Christopher.

Women’s SOS group
Velma’s House (154 Sherbrook Ave) - Safe space for women & those who identify as women
​who are experiencing homelessness, violence or exploitation.
There is no zoom option for this meeting.



Please note: We have meetings at the men’s and women’s AFM treatment facilities but are currently only open to participants in the residential treatment programs.

Donate

Although we are a non-profit organization we currently are not a registered charity in Canada so we are unable to give tax receipts. All donations will be used for the running of Winnipeg SOS.
